SHANGHAI, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai's top 100 companies registered total revenue of over 6.9 trillion yuan (980 billion U.S. dollars) in 2018, up 13.3 percent year on year, data showed.
The companies gained a net profit of 443.3 billion yuan during the period, up 11.4 percent year on year, according to the top 100 list published Monday by the Shanghai Enterprise Confederation, Shanghai Federation of Economic Organization and Jiefang Daily.
The list showed that a record 21 firms have registered a revenue of over 100 billion yuan last year, including three private companies.
Earlier this month, China expanded the Shanghai free trade zone to build the new Lingang area into a special economic function zone with global influence and competitiveness.
