When the Lao Digital Week 2026 kicked off in Vientiane on October 21, Guangxi Investment Group (GIG) made its debut together with its 10 Chinese partners to showcase the latest artificial intelligence (AI) and robot technologies and solutions.
The event, co-hosted by the Ministry of Technology and Communications of Laos and the Lao ICT and Digital Association, featured digital forums, tech exhibitions, thematic seminars, business matchmaking activities, and robotics and cybersecurity competitions to facilitate related exchanges and cooperation.
During the event, which ran until October 25, Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Khamliang Outhakaysone, Lao Minister of Technology and Communications Santisouk Simmalavong and Lao Minister of Industry and Commerce Malaithong Kommasith visited the booth of GIG.

After hearing an introduction by Tang Danzhong, deputy general manager of GIG, the Lao officials praised the company's experience and outcomes in bolstering AI development in Laos.
Currently, businesses partnered with GIG, headquartered in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, have gained speed in exporting AI and robot-related products to Laos and other Southeast Asian countries such as Indonesia, the Philippines and Myanmar.

For instance, Guangxi-based Pilot Tech Solutions has already exported its special-purpose robots such as PV-powered mountain weeding robots to Laos since 2025. Agricultural drones produced at EAVISION's Liuzhou manufacturing base are now in use in Laos, Thailand, and Malaysia.
While meeting Laos' demand for technology-intensive products, GIG's smart robot and equipment partners such as Guimu Robot contribute to clean energy development in Laos, the building of a new type of power system, and smart maintenance of the country's transport and energy infrastructure.

Other GIG partners, including Booster Robotics and Peitian Robot, brought humanoid robots, embodied intelligence development tools, mid- and high-end industrial robot bodies and automated integration solutions to the Lao Digital Week 2026.
At a time when AI+ application burgeons, GIG leverages the China-Laos AI application cooperation center, a high-level cooperation platform between China and Laos, to precisely match mature products and technologies of GIG partners with real application scenario-based demand in Laos.
For example, the center, whose operations are led by GIG, is accelerating the formation of an "AI + clean energy + green aluminum" industrial system to help deepen China-Laos pragmatic cooperation in the AI sector. (Edited by Duan Jing with Xinhua Silk Road, duanjing@xinhua.org)
