BEIJING, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Diversified and high-end imported goods are popular among Chinese consumers as consumption upgrading advances, according to a report released on Wednesday by JD research institute for consumption and industrial development under the Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com.
The report on imports consumption trend for 2022 shows that over the past year, Chinese consumers purchased more mobile phones, beauty and skincare products, tonics, furniture, food and drinks of foreign brands at JD.
In the first three quarters of 2022, foreign-branded mobile phones, computers, mother and baby products, beauty and skincare products, and household appliances were the most consumed products among goods imported by JD.com. During the period, the turnover of imported mobile phones accounted for over 30 percent of the total turnover of imported goods, according to the report.
It also tells that people aged between 26 and 45 are the major consumers of JD's imported goods. Consumers aged from 46 to 55 have great potential in purchasing power, as their spending on international products increased faster than that of other age groups.
Considering the changes in the Chinese market, owners of international brands should design more products with differentiated functions so as to better meet consumers' demands, said Liu Hui, director of JD research institute for consumption and industrial development.
