State Grid Qingdao Power Supply Company in Qingdao, east China's Shandong Province, has recently completed standardized electrical upgrades across 865 villages, built 1,130 kilometres of new 10-kilovolt lines and installed 2,210 distribution transformers since launching its rural grid upgrade programme.
To serve incoming enterprises, State Grid Qingdao Power Supply Company introduced a dedicated fast-track service mechanism that extends grid connections directly to new project boundaries, ensuring power is available the moment a business becomes operational.
In January 2024, State Grid Qingdao branch commissioned a hybrid micro-grid on Daguan Island, a 0.46-square-kilometre fishing settlement, integrating wind, solar, battery storage and diesel backup. Managed through a cloud-based intelligent dispatch system, it delivers uninterrupted green electricity around the clock, enabling the growth of island tourism and aquaculture where power supply was previously unreliable.
In Jiaozhou, the company deployed a real-time energy management system in Jijiazhuang Village to resolve distributed solar power being unable to feed into the local grid. Under an associated rural cooperative model including state capital funds development, village collectives leasing rooftop space, and State Grid handling operations, villagers and village collectives earn more than 300,000 yuan in additional income each year.
From smart greenhouses to the offshore micro-grid on Daguan Island and the rooftop solar cooperative in Jiaozhou, State Grid Qingdao Power Sully Company is delivering cleaner, more resilient and more widely shared electricity across the city's rural areas.
