InfoQuest, (Sept. 03, 2019) -- Ms. Suttirat Rattanachot, director general of Thailand's State Audit Office (SAO), revealed that today, merchants were invited to attend the government's promotion event about the procedure and benefits of "food, shopping, and consumption" program. The event attracted a large number of interested people. The program was launched between August 28 to September 1, 2019, when merchants can get registered and participate in. Nationwide, 2,300-plus shops and 34,200 blue-flag shops installed with EDC machines have participated in the activity. Since blue-flag shops have established databases, it is very easy for them to get registered. Besides, another 51,200 shops have installed Money Bag Application. They only need to upgrade the app to its latest version before participating in the activity, no need to fill in application form and get re-registered.
A total of around 87,700 shops have participated in the activity. Yet they are not enough to accommodate the consumption expenditure of 10 million people. Therefore, urgent publicity is needed to get more merchants involved. The activity offers a chance for all merchants to benefit, particularly those in tourism field, such as community shops offering accommodation, souvenirs, and other tourism-related business. The time for registration has been extended to September 20, 2019.
The director general of SAO reiterated that shop owners will benefit from the activity, and 10 million registered people will receive a tourism subsidy of 1,000 baht. Those traveling in provinces of Thailand will receive the subsidy after consumption, which means more revenue for shop owners and a large inflow of circulating fund to the economy system.
Merchants interested in the activity can fill in application forms and submit relevant documents in provincial finance offices of 76 provinces in Thailand. Those in Bangkok region can submit application forms to the office of SAO (Kampon Ngern's office). The office hours are 8:30 a.m.-16:30 p.m. It is opened in holidays and festivals. The activity will end on September 20, 2019. For those with no accounts of Krung Thai Bank, SAO has set up mobile service vehicles of Krung Thai Bank and established on-site service stations around branches of Krung Thai Bank, where an account can be opened immediately.
For those facing problems in acquiring business certification documents issued by government agencies, SAO and provincial finance offices have set up channels offering convenient services. For example, they have set up registration and application offices in local government buildings and coordinated with relevant agencies and working staff to offer registration and application services collectively. Currently, SAO has coordinated with the Ministry of Interior, which will send notice to its subordinate bodies at central and local levels, asking them to issue vocational certificates to people applying to participate in the activity, or offer application and registration services locally together with provincial finance offices, and sign to approve the application forms. SAO has worked out the format of application forms, and formulated relevant regulations to engage relevant local departments in coordination, so as to push for the implementation of the activity and realize desired goals of the government.
