InfoQuest (September 2, 2019) -- According to the Information Office of Chaeng Watthana Government Complex, during the official visit of President of Korea to Thailand, Thai Prime Minister and Defense Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and President of Korea Moon Jae-in will witness the signing of memorandums of cooperation between Thai government and the Republic of Korea. Other officials who will attend the signing ceremony include: cabinet members of Thailand and Korea, ambassador of Thailand to Seoul, Korea, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Thailand, senior government officials, and representatives of private sector and non-governmental organizations.
Thailand and Korea will sign six memorandums of cooperation, including:
1. The Memorandum of Cooperation on Water Resources Management between the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Ministry of Environment of Korea, which will support the two countries in launching sustainable development and management cooperation in water resources based on the analysis and research of climate change impacts on an equal footing with mutual benefits. The memorandum of cooperation will be co-signed by Prawit Wongsuwan, deputy prime minister of Thailand, and Ms. Kang Kyung-hwa, foreign minister of Republic of Korea.
2. The Memorandum of Cooperation on Korean Language Education between the Ministry of Education of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea, which will promote Korean language education in primary and middle schools in Thailand through various cooperation means. The memorandum of cooperation will be co-signed by Mr. Nataphol Teepsuwan, education minister of Thailand, and Ms. Yoo Eun-Hye, education minister of Republic of Korea.
3. The Agreement on the Protection of Military Intelligence between the Kingdom of Thailand Government and the Government of the Republic of Korea, which will boost defense cooperation and military intelligence exchanges, and the stipulation of the conditions of confidentiality for military intelligence exchanges. The agreement will be co-signed by Mr. Don Pramudwinai, foreign minister of Thailand, and Ms. Kang Kyung-hwa, foreign minister of the Republic of Korea.
4. The Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Industry of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea on Cooperation in Industry 4.0, which aims to boost bilateral cooperation in the targeted industries stipulated by Thailand, promote industrial investment and HR development, and enhance the competitiveness of SMEs. The memorandum of cooperation will be co-signed by Mr. Don Pramudwinai, foreign minister of Thailand, and Ms. Yoo Myung-hee, minister of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea.
5. The Agreement between the Ministry of Transport of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of the Republic of Korea on Extending the Memorandum of Understanding on Railway Cooperation between the Two Countries. The two countries agreed to extend the period of validity of the original two-year MOU on railway cooperation, aiming to promote bilateral cooperation in railway transportation. The agreement will be co-signed by Mr. Sak Siam Chidchob, transport minister of Thailand, and Mr. Lee Wook-heon, ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Thailand.
6. The Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of the Republic of Korea on Cooperation in Smart City Development, which will boost bilateral exchanges in information technology and HR policy and promote the mutually beneficial development of related industries in smart cities of the two countries. The memorandum of cooperation will be co-signed by Mr. Puttipong Punnakanta, minister of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society of Thailand, and Mr. Lee Wook-heon, ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Thailand.
Korean president's visit to Thailand will bring closer strategic partnership between the two countries, promote cooperation in all aspects, and contribute to tangible results between the two sides within bilateral, sub-regional, and regional frameworks based on a sound relationship.
