InfoQuest (August 30, 2019) -- Mr. Wuttikrai Leeveeraphan, director-general of the Department of Business Development (DBD) of the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) of Thailand, revealed that currently, there was a huge increase in the number of users of the online service systems of the DBD. The "Online Legal Name Reservation" service, the first procedure to register a company, began to operate on January 14, 2013. A total of 171,238 applications were received.
The above procedure has now been combined with e-Registration, an online business registration system that can be used via a Smart Phone terminal, to simplify the process of company registration. In the future, plans will be made to upgrade the system to enable electronic ID authentication, so later applicants will have no need to go to the DBD in person. The application forms will also be modified to make filling-in easier. The registration of a company by an agent will be allowed. According to relevant statistics, e-Registration has received up to 21,859 registration requests since it was launched on April 18, 2017.
In addition, services related to commercial information can be used through various channels, including e-service for issuing certificates, certification of copies of credentials, and document search. The above service system was put into operation on January 16, 2006, and it can be accessed through three channels, namely walk-in, EMS and Delivery. On August 15, 2018, the DBD e-Certificate File was also launched to meet the needs of online business operators. The total number of e-Service system users is 2,006,015. In addition, DBD has cooperated with financial institutions to provide e-Certificate services through 3,967 branches of 9 banks, i.e. certificate issuance and certification of copies of credentials. So far there have been 1,103,404 users who are using this service.
DBD has also launched DBD Datawarehouse +, an independent inquiry system for enterprise information that can be accessed through two channels. Its website is www.dbd.go.th. This service was launched on February 26, 2013, and has been used 41,176,087 times. The DBD e-Service application, which was launched on January 16, 2014, covers various types of services, such as checking company information/financial statements and registering online stores. The service has been used 16,581,278 times. At present, the system is being upgraded, in terms of improving the data content and depth of each industry, conducting feasibility analysis, and predicting business growth opportunities for each industry, to better serve users. This upgrade will help enterprises expand their business in the right direction and quickly adjust their business structure.
DBD e-Filing, an electronic financial statement submission system, has been in service since January 16, 2015, and it is gratifying that many companies have chosen to use the DBD e-Filing service instead of submitting financial statements completely in paper form. Up to 507,992 users submitted their 2018 FY financial statements through the system, representing 93 percent of the 545,807 companies that submitted financial statements.
"We are very pleased and grateful that the private sector and those who use the DBD services choose to use our electronic service systems and apply related technologies to their business operations. According to the statistics of the above online services, some signs have shown that the Thai MOC is ready to enter the era of Business 4.0 and is able to adapt to changes in business operation models. It will use relevant technologies to help save time and cut costs in terms of business operations and bring about advantages for market competition later," said the director-general of the DBD.
