BEIJING, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power Company introduced a precision carbon accounting system at the "China Pavilion" of the 30th UN Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Brazil's Amazon city of Belem.
The "Time-Sharing Carbon Footprint Label" initiative provides a solution that integrates electricity data with carbon emission management. The system addresses growing demands for accurate product-level carbon accounting under mechanisms such as the European Union's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). By using refined electricity carbon factors, it reduces temporal and spatial inaccuracies inherent in traditional methods.
In a pilot project with Hankook Tire in Jiaxing, a city in east China's Zhejiang Province, the carbon footprint per tire was reduced by 36.1 percent compared with conventional methods. The outcome was certified by the DNV in September 2025.
State Grid Zhejiang is promoting the carbon labeling across supply chains and collaborating with the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and countries, such as Singapore and Indonesia to build international mutual recognition mechanisms, strengthening clean power as a verifiable green trade advantage.
