BEIJING, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Wolfgang Margraf, an engineer from Cologne, Germany, who accompanied his Chinese wife in a family visit in Huanggangshan neighborhood community in Huangken Town of Yifeng County in Yichun City, east China's Jiangxi Province, recently learned how to make "shaomai," a traditional Chinese steamed pastry.

Shaomai is a popular delicacy in Yifeng County, often served at local banquets.

Yao Manqiu, the wife of Wolfgang Margraf, comes from Jiuling Village in Huangken Town. She used to work as a salesperson in foreign trade at an electronics company in Shenzhen.

At the end of 2005, Yao Manqiu and Wolfgang Margraf first met during a gathering in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). They got married in Cologne in February 2009.

In recent years, Wolfgang Margraf accompanied his wife to visit Yifeng from time to time, making friends with the local villagers. As they discovered Margraf's keen interest in local cuisine, local friends often invite him to join them in making local foodstuffs or dishes, including making tofu, shaomai, zongzi, fried glutinous pudding, rice wine and collecting raw honey.

According to Margraf, among the many places he has visited across the world, Yifeng has the local cuisine that he enjoys the most.  (Edited by Yang Linlin with Xinhua Silk Road, linlinyanglyn@163.com)
