BEIJING, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- North China's Shanxi Province-based Pengfei Group recently hosted exchange events in Ireland and Romania, showcasing its hydrogen energy industrial chain and promoting cultural tourism projects.
Founded in 1993, Pengfei Group has a total asset of 150 billion yuan (about 20.88 billion U.S. dollars), with an industrial cluster covering intelligent coal production, clean coking, hydrogen energy, road-railway transportation, and eco-friendly cultural tourism properties.
After eight years of transition, the group has successfully produced hydrogen utilizing coke oven gas. It can produce over 100,000 tonnes of clean hydrogen annually, enough to power 15,000 heavy-duty hydrogen trucks.
Unlike some companies that focus on a single link in the hydrogen industrial chain, Pengfei Group has established a complete industrial chain spanning hydrogen production, storage, transportation, refueling, and the manufacturing of hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles.
Zheng Peng, chairman and president of Pengfei Group, highlighted the group's operational fleet: 300 hydrogen heavy-duty trucks in Shanxi have logged approximately 50 million cumulative kilometers over three years, with a maximum mileage of individual vehicle reaching nearly 300,000 kilometers, setting global benchmarks for hydrogen commercial vehicles.
Alongside energy transition, Pengfei Group also actively preserves cultural heritage. In recent years, it has renovated the 400-year-old Xiangyu Castle, the 1,600-year-old Xiaoyi old town to open to public on October 1 this year, and the former residence of Tang Dynasty philosopher Liu Zongyuan (773-819), creating historic castle-centered cultural tourism hubs.
On this tour to Europe, Pengfei Group also outlined its ambitious plans: connecting hydrogen energy corridors stretching thousands of miles, promoting use of millions of hydrogen heavy-duty trucks, building million-tonne hydrogen supply bases, investing in thousands of comprehensive energy islands, developing a hundred-billion-yuan-level hydrogen energy industrial cluster.
Zheng Peng emphasized collaboration opportunities, saying the group hopes to join hands with European companies in fields such as hydrogen technology research and development, product production, and market expansion. Pengfei Group will provide comprehensive support and services to its partners, including sharing technological achievements, co-building production bases, and jointly exploring markets.
