BEIJING, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- The 6th Guizhou Zunyi International Chili Expo will be held in Xinpu New Area of Zunyi City, southwest China's Guizhou Province on September 26, according to a press conference held recently.
The chili industry has been listed as one of 12 characteristic and advantageous agricultural industries of Guizhou Province with forward planning and strong support to boost the province's chili development, an official said at the press conference.
In 2020, the production and sales scale of chili industry of Guizhou Province ranked first in China and still maintain the momentum this year with a planting area of 5.7 million mu and an estimated output of 6.5 million tons worth 23 billion yuan.
There are more than 300 chili-related enterprises in the province along with 490 provincial-, municipal- and county-level demonstration bases, 2.05 million mu of standardized bases, over 6,000 chili brokers and 106 sales outlets in a bid to improve the chili processing.
The province has also created a good development environment for market entities through rolling out multiple policies and services such as establishing 41 million yuan of chili loans and 4.5 billion yuan of funds, as well as developed regional brands to popularize the chili industry.
In addition, the national-level chili market jointly built by the People's Government of Guizhou Province and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has settled in Zunyi, a major chili planting region in the province.
In the future, the province will level up the breeding, branding, processing and marketing of the chili industry as well as release Chinese dry pepper price index to build a world-class chili processing and trade area.
