MILAN, Nov. 23 (Class Editori) - The Made in Italy Pavilion has been launched on Alibaba. The project, unique of its kind and the first one in Europe, is carried out by the giant from Hangzhou together with a government partner. Indeed, the initiative is based on a MoU signed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with ICE, the foreign trade agency chaired by Carlo Maria Ferro.
The pavilion will be acting exactly as a permanent online exhibition, addressed to Italian exporting companies, where they will be able to exhibit their own products and catalogs, by directly interacting with 26 million buyers in 190 countries active on Alibaba.com.
"Consumption habits are increasingly more digital-oriented and the pandemic is accelerating this transition. As ICE, we are really active on this front and, in line with the Export Pact promoted by the Minister Di Maio, we have reshaped the programs of our initiatives in digital terms", as Ferro has explained. "The launch of the first Made in Italy showcase on the Alibaba.com B2B platform marks a new stage that extends our support in the online trade to all product sectors, in order to reach customers online in 190 countries. This initiative, the first one in the B2B sector, is going hand in hand with 25 agreements signed by ICE with leading B2C marketplaces and already operational in 14 countries, with the aim of promoting and sponsoring the access of Italian SMEs to 1,45 billion consumers who buy online everyday".
Initially, the agreement will be giving 300 Italian companies the opportunity to activate for free, with the ICE contribution, a premium membership on Alibaba.com and to be included in the "Made in Italy Pavilion" for 24 months, by benefiting from training programs and assistance services for the online management of their own profile.
In addition, ICE and Alibaba have announced the renewal and extension of the partnership launched in 2018 with the opening of "helloITA", a dedicated section of the B2C Alibaba-Tmall platform. The cooperation will continue also in the Freshippo field, the Alibaba's digital and automated supermarket chain in China, where a wide range of Italian products is already offered, in particular of the agribusiness field.
"The renewal of our collaboration with ICE has occurred, not by chance, in a particular difficult situation for the Italian economy, which has made essential for companies to rethink their own strategy and operations in digital terms. Together with ICE, Alibaba reiterates its commitment to supporting Italian companies and entrepreneurs with solutions and skills which will strengthen their expansion path on global markets, by bringing their excellence", as Rodrigo Cipriani Foresio- General Manager for South Europe of the Chinese e-commerce giant- has added.
According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs- Luigi di Maio-, "in the following years, the digital sector will increasingly act as a driver for the exports’ growth and I am confident that Italian companies will be able to fully take advantage of its potential, by effectively acting in an increasingly open and competitive international context".
