MILAN, Feb. 13 (Class Editori) - Cremonini Group is strengthening its presence through the Belt and Road Initiative. In Moscow, Inalca, the main company of the Modenese Group has inaugurated today through its subsidiary Marr Russia a new logistics and supply platform for the storage, sale and distribution of food products addressed to the food service sector (hotels, restaurants and catering) of the Russian Federation.
The Russian Deputy Minister for Agriculture Sergey Levin and Teresa Bellanova, Minister for Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies have also attended the ceremony.
This new plant has been added to the ones located in Saint Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Samara, Rostov-on-Don in the Russian Federation and to the two plants based in Kazakhstan (Almaty and Nursultan); the aim is strengthening, concentrating and rationalizing all the activities already developed by Marr Russia in Moscow in the last years.
With more than 1,300 employees, Inalca recorded in 2019 a turnover of more than €300 million and, in particular, Marr Russia sell more than 4,000 references, among which the best Russian, international and Italian products, by serving 7,000 customers with a fleet of 120 refrigerated lorries.
Based in a strategic position near the big ring road of Moscow, the new plant is distributed on a surface of 42,000 sqm, with a covered surface of almost 19,000 sqm which includes three big areas for the management of frozen products (meat, fish, vegetables), fresh products (meat, cheese and cured meat) and dry products (pasta, oil, tinned tomatoes). The storage capacity amounts to 33,000 pallet positions. The construction has required 18 months of work and an investment of €25 million and will lead to the creation of 50 new work places.
The new platform is joining the factory inaugurated by Cremonini in 2010 for the preparing and processing of meat, which is currently producing more than 30.000 tons of hamburger per year and owning a modern production line of bacon.
“The investment in this new platform has also consolidated our leadership in food products distribution to the Ho.Re.Ca channel (hotels, restaurants, catering), which is a current high-growing market in Russia”, as Luigi Cremonini- Inalca founder and Cremonini Group president- has explained. He and his son Vincenzo are actively managing the company and “this will further boost our meat production activities in the country, where the group has been involved for years in the enhancement of the supply chain, starting from the livestock and processing, to the finished product.
“At the same time, despite the embargo, our role of ambassadors of the Italian and International gastronomic excellences is becoming stronger, in a market which has always shown to appreciate them”, as Cremonini has concluded.
Cremonini, thanks to Inalca and its subsidiaries, has been active in Russia for 35 years (from 2015 in partnership with Highbury Group), with a progressive developing model which, during the years, has grown from the simple food products’ distribution to the meat preparing and processing, in order to build an integrated productive chain, from livestock to slaughter (in Orenburg factory), from procession (the hamburger and bacon production plant is in Moscow) to distribution, throughout the platforms above mentioned.
Cremonini, with more than 18.500 employees and a turnover of more than €4.2 billion in 2019, 35% of which recorded abroad, is one of the most important food groups in Europe and it is working in three business areas: production, distribution and catering. The Group is leader in Italy for bovine meat production and meat-based processed products (Inalca) as well as for sale and distribution of food products to foodservices (Marr). (all rights reserved)
