This year the Parc des expositions in Paris Villepinte is hosting Première Vision, the fair acting as a hub for creativity and hosting 1,782 exhibitors, registered an increase of 3.3% compared to February 2018. We can see an evolution of the Chinese strategy that has updated prices and adapted the production based on the needs of the international market.

This edition is opening under favorable auspices for Première Vision, which is bringing together from today 1,782 exhibitors at the Parc des expositions of Paris Villepinte, showing an increase of 3.3% compared to February 2018.

"The economic environment is far from easy. Data from the prêt-à-porter have just been published, showing that consumption in France fell by 2% in value in 2018 and by 1.5% in volume" explained Gilles Lasbordes, General Manager of the fair. The success we gain suggests that companies are striving and that our platform gives them the opportunity to show that they are part of the competition. Our team noticed a great creativity even speaking of trends. When things get rough, we need to show even in terms of innovation and imagination".

The top countries among those present are France, Turkey, Spain and Great Britain, followed by Italy, always at the very top in terms of representatives. Furthermore, the manufacturing sector has been reorganized especially for this edition, with new nomenclatures to simplify the research of operators. An area will be dedicated to Proximity sourcing (123 exhibitors, Hall 6) and will bring together the specialists of the Mediterranean area and of Eastern and Middle Eastern countries as well. Another area will be dedicated to Overseas sourcing (Hall 2), represented by 37 companies located in the Indian subcontinent and the Far East. We can see an evolution of the Chinese strategy that through a more valuable offer has updated prices and adapted the production based on the needs of the international market.

Now China, whose growing creativity is portrayed in a small photographic exhibition, is no longer the least expensive country, but the one offering the best quality/price ratio. Knitwear (Hall 6) and Leather (Hall 3) add to the Manufacturing offer respectively by flat knitting, shoes and bags. Among other hot topics of this season, we have the fashion tech dedicated to the Augmented Man, a theme that will lead visitors into the world of Smart materials, fabrics which integrate cutting-edge technologies to follow the user through sporting or hiking performances, projecting the man into a futuristic dimension.

To occupy this territory at 360°, Première Vision will set up a fair in Portland in August (home of Nike and Columbia sportswear, among others, ed) dedicated to textiles for sport. "It is an across the board sector that, as shown by the recent men's fashion shows, now involves all styles", underlined Lasbordes.

Finally, the Maison d'Exception space (Hall 3) is back with 24 companies, of which six are new and stand out as examples of handcrafted and creative know-how. Italy will be represented by Ricami Laura. Five textile research projects designed by French artists and designers between 2015 and 2018 will be displayed, showing their work performed during their stay at the cultural institute of Villa Kujoyamadi Kyoto.
