Sri Lanka aims to increase exports of its popular Ceylon black tea to China and will launch a mega digital advertising campaign across China by May, Chairman of Sri Lanka Tea Board Lucille Wijewardena said here Thursday.

China imported 6,894.9 tonnes of black tea from January to March, 2018, an increase of 26.2 percent year on year, according to a monthly report jointly released by Xinhua Silk Road and China Chamber of Commerce of Foodstuffs and Native Produce (CFNA).

China exported 7,676.2 metric tons (tonnes) of black tea in the first quarter of the year, a decline of 8.5 percent year on year, according to a month report released jointly by Xinhua Silk Road and CFNA.

China Monthly Export Report on Black Tea (Januanry 2018)
China exported 2,485.0 tons of black tea in January 2018, a decrease of 23.5 percent month on month. The export value amounted to 22.43 million U.S. dollars, a decrease of 29.8 percent month on month.
