BEIJING, May 2 (Xinhua) -- China imported 6,894.9 tonnes of black tea from January to March, 2018, an increase of 26.2 percent year on year, according to a monthly report jointly released by Xinhua Silk Road and China Chamber of Commerce of Foodstuffs and Native Produce (CFNA).
The value of China's black tea imports amounted to 27.959 million U.S. dollars during the period, an increase of 23.5 percent on year.
In March alone, China imported 2,765.4 tonnes of black black tea, up 37.1 percent year on year.
From January to March, 2018, among all the countries and regions that export black tea to China, Sri Lanka ranked the first by 15.108 million U.S. dollar value of black tea, up 36 percent year on year followed by India and Taiwan, with value of 5.837 million U.S. dollars and 1.286 million U.S. dollars.
In March, 2018, Sri Lanka ranked first with a value of 6.292 million U.S. dollars, followed by India and Kenya, with value of 2.207 million U.S. dollars and 438,000 U.S. dollars, respectively. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
