Chapter I. Summary
China exported 2,485.0 tons of black tea in January 2018, a decrease of 23.5 percent month on month. The export value amounted to 22.43 million U.S. dollars, a decrease of 29.8 percent month on month. The average price was 9,026.4 U.S. dollars per ton, a decrease of 8.2 percent month on month. Compared with January 2017, there was a decrease of 22.2 percent in quantity, an increase of 12.5 percent in value, and an increase of 44.7 percent in average price.
In terms of export destination by continent, Asia imported 1,353.8 tons of black tea in January 2018, a decrease of 22.9 percent year on year, or 16.56 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 20.7 percent year on year, at an average price of 12,235.4 U.S. dollars per ton, an increase of 56.7 percent year on year; Africa imported 0.6 tons, an increase of 3,310.5 percent year on year, or 8,200 U.S. dollars, an increase of 3,484.2 percent year on year, at an average price of 12,611.1 U.S. dollars per ton, an increase of 5.1 percent year on year; Europe imported 315.4 tons, a decrease of 46.2 percent year on year, or 1.12 million U.S. dollars, a decrease of 33.0 percent year on year, at an average price of 3,546.2 U.S. dollars per ton, an increase of 24.4 percent year on year; South America imported 22.2 tons, an increase of 235.5 percent year on year, or 0.24 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 120.7 percent year on year, at an average price of 10,639.7 U.S. dollars per ton, a decrease of 34.2 percent year on year; North America imported 692.6 tons, a decrease of 4.9 percent year on year, or 3.49 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 1.8 percent year on year, at an average price of 5,036.8 U.S. dollars per ton, an increase of 7.0 percent year on year; Oceania imported 100.4 tons, a decrease of 14.8 percent year on year, or 1.02 million U.S. dollars, a decrease of 0.4 percent year on year, at an average price of 10,112.1 U.S. dollars per ton, an increase of 16.9 percent year on year.
Among all the countries and regions that imported black tea from China, in terms of value, Vietnam ranked first with 7.01 million U.S. dollars in January 2018, an increase of 203.2 percent year on year; Hong Kong ranked second with 5.07 million U.S. dollars, a decrease of 29.7 percent year on year; the United States ranked third with 3.29 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 3.0 percent year on year.
