RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- China Electronics Imports and Exports Corporation (CEIEC) is helping Brazil build a scientific expedition station in the Antarctic area.
Some 40 staff of CEIEC have landed the Antarctic area, and so have the engineering equipment. They will rebuild the main building of Brazil's Antarctic station, which was built in 1984 but burned down in 2012.
CEIEC won the bidding for reconstruction of Brazil's Antarctic station in 2015. The project involved investment of nearly 100 million U.S. dollars.
Construction on the station can only be carried out in the four months of summer in the Antarctic area, and it is expected to finish by 2018. Enditem (Edited by Li Xiaohui, lixh@xinhua.org)
