BEIJING, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- As the spring farming season rolls out in full swing at a greenhouse for red sweet potatoes in Yuelong Township in Ninghe District of north China's Tianjin Municipality, the support of a reliable power supply is making all the difference.
With farming centers using electric systems for temperature and humidity control, as well as watering and fertilizing, local power demand for farming has increased. Since the beginning of 2025, power demand in Yuelong Township for developing the sweet potato industry surged 37.73 percent year on year.
In this case, the nearby windfarms, with an average daily power generation capacity of 19,800 kWh, can effectively meet the electricity demand of local agricultural production, improving agricultural production efficiency and promoting green and low-carbon development for comprehensive rural revitalization.
The new energy installed capacity of Ninghe's power grid now reaches 8,016,500 kW, exceeding peak demand in the region by 22.52 percent. In 2024, the installed capacity of new energy projects served by the Ninghe branch of State Grid Tianjin Electric Power Company increased 29.85 percent.
