Chinese robot maker Unitree to debut on Shanghai market Wednesday

August 18, 2026

Abstract : Chinese robot maker Unitree Robotics will make its debut on the Shanghai Stock Exchange's sci-tech innovation board, or STAR Market, on Wednesday, the company said in an announcement filed with the bourse on Monday.

BEIJING, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese robot maker Unitree Robotics will make its debut on the Shanghai Stock Exchange's sci-tech innovation board, or STAR Market, on Wednesday, the company said in an announcement filed with the bourse on Monday.

The Hangzhou-based company is offering about 40.45 million shares at 150.8 yuan (about 22.2 U.S. dollars) each, representing 10 percent of its post-offering share capital. Unitree's market capitalization is expected to reach about 60.993 billion yuan following its initial public offering (IPO), according to the announcement.

The offering price corresponds to a price-to-earnings ratio of 219.23 times, well above the average static price-to-earnings ratio of 38.56 times for the company's general equipment manufacturing peers over the past month, it showed.

Founded in 2016, Unitree Robotics has emerged as one of China's leading robotics firms, specializing in the development of quadruped and humanoid robots. In 2025, its humanoid robot shipments surpassed 5,500 units, ranking first globally.

Unitree's revenue rose to nearly 1.7 billion yuan in 2025 from 159.13 million yuan in 2023, representing a compound annual growth rate of 226.78 percent.

Benefiting from the gradual expansion of downstream application scenarios for humanoid robots and sustained market demand, the company posted revenue of about 1.15 billion yuan in the first half of 2026, up 48.54 percent year on year.

Unitree saw its IPO application accepted by the Shanghai Stock Exchange on March 20 and approved by the listing committee on June 1, a record-breaking timeline that underscored regulators' recognition of the strategic importance of embodied intelligence.

China has identified the robotics industry as a key frontier for gaining a strategic technological edge. In the first half of 2026, China-developed quadruped robots accounted for nearly 70 percent of global sales, according to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Also on Monday, Unitree unveiled its new humanoid robot "Superman," which can perform a two-meter standing high jump and sprint at a top speed of 12.66 meters per second with a leg length of 0.85 meters, beating human records in both events.

Developed in just over three months, the robot still has substantial room for further optimization, Unitree said, adding that its performance has the potential to improve significantly in the months ahead.
