BEIJING, July 22 (Xinhua) -- A China-Europe freight train (Shanghai) carrying about 520 bags and 9.38 tons of international mail departed from the Alashankou Port recently, reported Shanghai Securities News.
This is the first time that international mail from Shanghai has been delivered to Europe via the China-Europe freight trains. The international mail will arrive at the Malaszewicze Port in Poland first, and then be shipped to various European countries. Currently, the China-Europe freight train (Shanghai) reaches 29 European countries, including Ireland, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Norway, etc.
China Post Shanghai branch has two channels for international business, namely maritime and air transport. In recent years, with increasing business volume and changing customer demands, China Post Shanghai branch has optimized its international business structure.
To facilitate its international business, Shanghai Customs, in collaboration with Urumqi Customs, has introduced a new process for the customs transfer of mail via the China-Europe freight train (Shanghai), achieving full coverage of maritime, road, rail and air transport for mail from Shanghai to Europe.
