BEIJING, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- When big clients and e-commerce sales both expanded in the past year, Fengjie County in southwest China's Chongqing is reaping benefits from the diversified sales channels-enabled pricing resilience for local navel oranges.
On Thursday, a special recommendation activity for Fengjie navel oranges to enter Shandong market was convened in Linyi City of Shandong Province, witnessing also the fifth global releasing of Xinhua·Fengjie navel orange prices index report by China Economic Information Service Co., Ltd. (CEIS).
By leveraging a crucial period of sales channel expansion from 2022 to 2023, Fengjie, one of the eight main navel orange production zones in China and boasting a navel orange plantation history of more than 2,000 years, managed to have a bigger say in the country's navel orange industry in 2023.

Li Xiaoxia, head of commerce committee of Fengjie County, said that for years, navel oranges of Fengjie have won favor from consumers with its high quality and unique taste. To further boost sales, Fengjie has actively cooperated with regions in east China.
Under related consumption-boosting activities between Fengjie and the partner regions, about 10,000 tonnes of Fengjie navel oranges entered the Shandong market and Fengjie navel orange became a new hallmark for the quality farm produces of Chongqing, added Li.
Besides, the report tells that smooth shipment and relatively high and stable purchasing prices at production bases of Fengjie navel oranges were seen from 2022 to 2023 under supports from the Xinhua·Fengjie navel orange prices index and related derivative information products despite the sluggish domestic navel orange market.
