BEIJING, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- The World Digital Education Conference (WDEC), a world-known industrial meeting on digital eductation, kicked off Monday in Beijing, the capital of China, and would last till Tuesday, reported Beijing Daily.
Themed on digital transformation and future of education, the event, co-organized by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the National Commission of the People's Republic of China for UNESCO, aims at boosting new progress in the digital development of education and injecting new impetus into the development of digital education around the globe.
Attendees are expected to share their ideas on digital transformation, development and application of digital learning resources, improvement of digital literacy of teachers and students, digital governance of education and other topics, which are likely to inspire actions and inject vitality into digital education worldwide.
With strong efforts, China has reaped fruitful results in promoting the digital development of education in recent years.
On March 1, 2022, the Smart Education of China platform for primary and secondary schools took the lead in upgrading and trial operation, and the three platforms for primary and secondary schools, vocational education and higher education were successively integrated and launched, introduced Shu Hua, deputy head of the Department of Science, Technology and Informatization with MOE.
According to Shu, at present, the Smart Education of China platform for primary and secondary schools has 44,000 resources, such platform for vocational education has access to 1,173 national and provincial professional teaching resources libraries, and such platform for higher education has 27,000 high-quality massive open online courses.
Besides, the Smart Education of China platform has received more than 1 billion visitors, with its users coming from over 200 countries and regions. China has basically built up the world's largest resource databank for education and teaching.
The holding of the World Digital Education Conference will continue to enhance the international influence of China's digital education. So far, representatives from more than 130 countries and regions have registered to attend the event, and diplomatic envoys and representatives from nearly 50 countries and international organizations and presidents of many well-known universities have attended the event.
