BEIJING, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- Air conditioning equipment made by Chinese home appliance giants like Gree, Midea and Hisense has come into the spotlight at the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, helping secure suitable temperatures at venues of the event, reported Shanghai Securities News Friday.
The air conditioning system of the World Cup venues is very good, providing perfect temperature for players, commented Jordan Pickford, goalkeeper of the England national team, in a recent interview.
Set at 18 degrees Celsius, the air conditioning system in the stadium starts working an hour before each match, and the temperature of the whole stadium will reach 20 to 25 degrees Celsius at the start of the match, said a staff at the Education City Stadium, one of the World Cup venues in Qatar.
It is learned that many venues of the Qatar World Cup, including 974 stadiums and a fan village, are equipped with central air conditioning system provided by Gree, with the total number exceeding 40,000 sets.
Before the opening of this World Cup, Gree's installation team worked 24 hours a day without a break delivering, installing and debugging air conditioners in the fan village to ensure the timely use, creating a record of installing more than 1,000 sets of air conditioners within 24 hours.
According to Midea, its core air conditioning products are also used in the security centers, media centers and ancillary facilities at venues of the Qatar World Cup, helping provide comfortable air experience for athletes, volunteers, media personnel and spectators.
The billboards of Hisense, one of the official sponsors for the event, also attracted special attention with frequent appearances at the venues.
A number of Chinese home appliance brands appeared in the Qatar World Cup venues by forging partnership with participating teams.
VATTI Corporation Limited on November 7 announced cooperation with the Portugal national team. In September, TCL announced to be a sponsor of the Brazil national team, and meanwhile signed with the players of multiple national teams as its global brand ambassadors.
Analysts believe that sports marketing has become an effective way of brand export of home appliance enterprises. According to FIFA's official figures, 3.572 billion people watched the 2018 World Cup, and the 2022 event is expected to attract more than 5 billion viewers worldwide, setting a new record high.
