CHONGQING, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality saw its foreign trade volume rise 7.2 percent year on year to around 689.5 billion yuan (about 97.9 billion U.S. dollars) in the first 10 months of this year, according to local customs.
Chongqing's exports grew 9.3 percent year on year to 449.6 billion yuan, while imports reached 239.9 billion yuan, up 3.4 percent during the period.
From January to October, Chongqing's foreign trade with the European Union, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, and the United States went up 4.9 percent, 2 percent, and 2.5 percent, respectively, from the same period last year.
Meanwhile, the municipality's trade with other members of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership grew 12.5 percent year on year, while its trade with countries along the Belt and Road registered a year-on-year increase of 5.2 percent.
Electronic goods and information technology products were the main import and export commodities during the period.
