InfoQuest (May 31, 2022) - Mr. Tongchai Chawaritpichet, Director-Generalof Thailand’s Office of Industrial Economies announced that Thailand's manufacturing production index (MPI) stood at 91.79 in April, up 0.56 percentfrom a year earlier. In the first four months of this year, the MPI grew by an average of 1.37 percent.
The capacity utilization rate (CapU) was 58.91 percent in April, down from 69.33 percent in March. In the first four months of this year, CapU averaged 64.63 percent.
The main factors affecting the MPI in April were competitive prices of Thai exporters due to the depreciation of the Thai baht, and the gradual recovery of economic activities due to its opening policy. In addition, due to the increase in production cost, the producer price index (PPI) of industrial products in April was up by 11.4 percent.
