CHONGQING, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Republic of Belarus on Thursday officially opened a consulate general in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality.
At the opening ceremony, Li Bo, vice mayor of Chongqing, said the two sides should work together to jointly promote the China-Belarus comprehensive strategic partnership and expand mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields.
Li said that, in recent years, the China-Belarus comprehensive strategic partnership, featuring mutual trust and win-win cooperation, has been constantly strengthened and fruitful results have been achieved in jointly building the Belt and Road.
Yuri Senko, Belarus Ambassador to China, said he hoped the official opening of the third Consulate General in China would add some motion and content to the commercial, economic, investment, and humanitarian cooperation between Belarus and Chongqing.
"China is one of the key partners of Belarus in the world," he said. "Today we are actively moving towards bringing Belarus-China relations to a new level of iron brotherhood and all-weather partnership. I am sure that it will meet today's realities and open a new page in the history of our countries."
The jurisdiction of the new consulate general includes Chongqing and the provinces of Sichuan, Shaanxi, Gansu, Hubei and Yunnan. Enditem
