CHONGQING, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) – Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality saw the output value of its intelligent industry grow by 12.8 percent on year in 2020 upon efforts to build itself into "a major city of intelligent manufacturing".
The city has beefed up the full-chain development of the intelligent industry that centers on IC chips, screens, smart products, core components for NEVs and ICVs (Intelligent Connected Vehicles) as well as the Internet of Things, according to the municipal economy and informatization commission.
For example, sales revenue of IC design industry in Chongqing registered growth rate of more than 206 percent, and the output value of IC chip and screen industries both increased by over 20 percent on year in 2020. Chongqing's export value of laptops reached an all-time high of 172.6 billion yuan in 2020, up 16.1 percent year on year.
Output of electronic products such as smart watches and 3D-print devices grew by 64.6 percent and 28.3 percent, respectively, year on year. Output of upstream high-tech products such as IC, LCD screens and industrial robots increased by 34.9 percent, 28.2 percent and 24.6 percent, year on year, respectively.
In the meantime, about 39,000 5G base stations had been built in Chongqing by the end of 2020 as the city speeded up its digital infrastructure construction, according to the commission. (Edited by Wang Jing, Niu Huizhe with Xinhua Silk Road, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
