BEIJING, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Authorities in southwest China's Sichuan Province and Chongqing Municipality recently signed a series of agreements to enhance cooperation in electronic information industry.
The agreements signed involves multiple levels, including cooperation among relevant government departments of Sichuan and Chongqing, 10 industry associations and alliances in the two places, and also enterprises and platforms.
According to the agreement, Sichuan and Chongqing will jointly build an electronic information industry economic corridor, creating an important national-level electronic information industry base and a global electronic information high-end R&D and manufacturing base.
Electronic information is becoming a leading industry in the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle. Last year, the main business income of the electronic information industry in Sichuan exceeded 1 trillion yuan and that in Chongqing exceeded 700 billion yuan.
At the same time, the industrial clusters of the two places are highly correlated and complementary, which lays good foundation for achieving high-quality coordinated development of electronic information industry.
In the future, Sichuan and Chongqing will focus on integrated circuits and new display, big data, Internet of Things, cloud computing, information security and other key areas, and carry out in-depth cooperation in communication terminals, automotive electronics, and new electronic information materials, aiming to accelerate the high-quality development of the Sichuan-Chongqing electronic information industry, said Pi Yiming, deputy director of the Sichuan Provincial Economic and Information Department.
