BEIJING, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region is planning to boost its tourism development and build new tourism pattern by improving the region's transportation network and creating personalized and differentiated tourism products, according to the Department of Culture and Tourism of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
The cultural and tourism industry is one of the nine key feature industries in Ningxia. In 2019, the total tourism revenue of the region accounted for more than 9 percent of its total GDP.
In recent years, tourism has become a pillar industry in Ningxia. However, poor accessibility, high transportation costs, and low tourism revenue still restrict the high-quality development of the industry, according to Song Jiangang, director of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
In response to these negative factors, Ningxia is planning to build new tourism pattern to boost the tourism industry in the region.
As Ningxia is about to integrate into the national high-speed rail network, it will focus on strengthening the connection between internal and external channels, speeding up the construction of main roads and scenic spots connection projects, establishing tourist transfer stations at airports and railway stations, and increasing direct transportation lines to major scenic spots.
In terms of tourism products, Ningxia will speed up the development of personalized tourism products covering leisure, health care and study trip, and launch more tourist routes to enhance tourist experienceand promote the region's tourism consumption.
