BEIJING, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- More than 1,100 workers were busy constructing of a "one-stop" aircraft maintenance service base in Jiangdong New Area of Haikou, capital city of South China's island province Hainan on August 29, reported a.hinews.cn.

With a total investment of 1.628 billion yuan and a planned land area of 221 mu or 14.73 hectares, this project includes building hangars for overhauls & periodic checks and wide-body/narrow-body aircraft painting, accessory maintenance workshops and international aviation material storage and trading centers, and supporting facilities for production as well.

According to Liu Hui, project manager of China Construction Eighth Engineering Division Corp. Ltd., they have completed 70% of the capping of the attached building and started decoration and mechanical & electrical installation. At present, construction of the project is in full swing with an arrangement of three-shift work a day, and the number of workers reaches as many as 3,000 on peak days. They are striving to complete the project and put it into operation in March 2021.

Wen Bin, person in charge of Tianjin HNA architectural design Co., Ltd., told the reporter from a.hinews.cn that after the completion of this project, it will mainly offer such services as periodic checks and overhauls of various types of aircraft, aviation modification and painting, accessory repair, aviation materials trading, technical services, and aviation maintenance research & development. The base can simultaneously accommodate eight small airplanes or two wide-body civil aircrafts for overhauls and periodic checks, and the painting area can serve one wide-body civil airplane or two small airplanes for painting.

After the completion of the base, it is estimated that the annual output value will top one billion yuan, of which aircraft maintenance and painting are expected to bring 100 million to 300 million yuan of output value for the base respectively.
