Several applicants are competing to develop a planned so-called Innovation Park for Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the south western German state of Baden-Württemberg, according to the state's economics ministry. The ministry, headed by Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut of the center-right Christian Democrats (CDU), informed dpa that there are about half a dozen regions with "very strong" interest in realizing the project. It is still unclear whether the campus will be built at one location only or spread over several locations. The issue of the location is expected to be decided next year.
At the beginning of the year, the state government announced that it was working on the construction of such a project. According to Hoffmeister-Kraut, scientists, companies and investors should be able to network in the Innovation Park and work under the best possible conditions. The necessary computing capacities as well as test and experimental facilities will also be provided for this purpose. The ministry cited the Adlershof Technology Park in Berlin as an example.
