The municipal government of Changchun, located in Jilin, and the two companies, during a video conference, signed a letter of intent to cooperate in the Hongqi S-series project. Silk/Faw will invest in the "Red Flag S" project 10 billion yuan, about € 1.3 billion, over the next five years to build Chinese hypercars.
The goal is to transform this brand into a reference point for luxury electric and non-electric sports cars. And Italy could become the headquarters of the production plant.
A decision will be made in the coming weeks. In China too, "work is in progress": the Faw group has announced the start of construction of a new plant based in Changchun, designed to produce new energy vehicles and vehicles connected in an intelligent way with its premium brand Hongqi.
Hongqi with all the Faw Group is one of the manufacturers that is trying to adapt to the new era indicated by President Xi Jinping with the slogan made in China 2025, which aims to bring China in the leading position in strategic sectors, including the electric car.
