BEIJING, April 10 (Xinhua) -- East China's Shandong Province saw its trade with countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) grow 11.3 percent year on year to 90.33 billion yuan in the first two months of 2020, according to the Qingdao Customs on Wednesday.
During the period, the province's imports from those countries increased 24.6 percent year on year to stand at 46.51 billion yuan, while its exports to those countries dropped 0.1 percent year on year to 43.82 billion yuan.
In February, Shandong's trade with those countries reached 33.18 billion yuan, up 1.9 percent on year. Of the total, its imports from those countries grew 22.6 percent on year to 19.04 billion yuan while its exports to them declined 16.9 percent on year to 14.14 billion yuan.
The main export goods from Shandong are mechanical and electrical products, labor-intensive products and agricultural ones, the exports of which increased by 5 percent, 1.4 percent and 12.4 percent respectively in the first two months of the year. However, the exports of steel and tires declined 13.9 percent and 13.5 percent respectively during the period.
Shandong's imports of crude oil and rubber from those countries increased by 57.7 percent and 25.5 percent respectively in January and February, while its imports of mechanical and electrical products and agricultural products decreased by 24 percent and 2.2 percent respectively.
