BEIJING, March 19 (Xinhua) -- The trade between Northwest China's Shaanxi province and countries along the Belt and Road grew rapidly by 32.99 percent year-on-year in the first two months of this year, hitting 10.19 billion yuan, according to statistics from Xi'an Customs.
Specifically, the province's imports from B&R countries valued 2.13 billion yuan, soaring 61.48 percent, while exports to these countries valued 8.06 billion yuan, rising 27.07 percent. Affected by the epidemic, the province's trade with the EU has dropped significantly.
In this period, the province's total foreign trade amounted to 56.96 billion yuan, dropping 1.35 percent year on year, which was 8.3 percentage points lower than the national average. Among them, the import was 29.39 billion yuan, up 16.25 percent, and export, 27.57 billion yuan, down 15.06 percent.
Meanwhile, its foreign trade of high-tech products was 18.45 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 18.04 percent, of which imports were 8.88 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 174.45 percent. The province has exported 230-million-yuan worth of apple juice during the period, an increase of 138.98 percent year-on-year.
