After Hessen, Schleswig-Holstein is now the second German state to have started a practical test on an electric highway. The first hybrid truck belonging to a forwarding agency based in Reinfeled is being tested on the road several times a day on a stretch of Autobahn 1 between Reinfeld and the motorway junction Lübeck. The test track in Schleswig-Holstein is one of a total of three in Germany on which an overhead line system for the electrification of heavy commercial vehicles is to be tested in practice. A spokeswoman for Hessen’s transportation authority said that the first impressions of the participating freight forwarders were positive. She said, however, that the earliest an interim assessment could be expected was by the middle of the year.
