BEIJING, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) – Southwest China's Sichuan, the home to panda bears, actively participates in the Belt and Road construction and continues to provide better services to the Belt and Road supply chain through taking part in the new western land-sea corridor construction.
As the strongest industrial base in Western China, Sichuan has important positions in such sectors as machinery and electronics and enjoys rapid development in strategic emerging sectors including next-generation IT and new materials.
Playing an important role in international trade, Sichuan saw the international goods trade rise 21.9 percent year on year to 303.3 billion yuan in the first half of 2019, much higher than the national growth of 3.9 percent.
In terms of investment environment, Sichuan has more than 200 industrial parks and attracted 285 Fortune 500 companies including 198 foreign companies with total direct investment exceeding 10 billion U.S. dollars. (Edited by Gao Jingyan)
