MILAN, Nov. 11 (Class Editori) – Salini Impregilo is shortlisted for a new contract in Australia and on the stock market the share increased by 3.50% for 1.743 euros. The group is among the companies selected for the construction of the Sydney Gateway project, worth between 2.2 and 2.6 billion Australian dollars (1.5 billion euros), to improve road connections from the airport and Port Botany to the new Sydney motorway junction at St Peters Interchange.

The project foresees the completion of connections along the motorway network. By guaranteeing the circulation of around 80 thousand vehicles a day (including 10,000 heavy vehicles) on new roads, the community will be able to regain possession of the local roads. The project also includes the construction of a new overpass for the domestic terminals of the Sydney Airport.

The work is commissioned by the Ministry of Transport of the New South Wales government, as part of a larger infrastructure program in a state whose population will exceed 12 million people by 2056, compared to the current 8 million.

Salini Impregilo is a leader in the realization of innovative and sustainable infrastructures, and Australia is positioning itself as a leader for the growth in this sector, relying on partnerships between different players. The country is a reference market for the group that in recent months has won a big contract for the construction of Snowy 2.0, the largest project ever built in Australia in the hydroelectric sector.

Salini Impregilo is also involved in the construction of the Forrestfield-Airport Link, the metro line that will connect the eastern area of Perth and the airport to the Central Business District. At the same time in Sydney the company contributed to the construction of the Sydney Metro Northwest, with a very significant section from an engineering standpoint, the skytrain bridge. The latter is the largest public transport infrastructure project in Australia and the largest in Sydney since Harbor Bridge was built nearly 100 years ago.
