BEIJING, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- China's 25 leading excavator makers sold a total of 17,027 excavators in October, up 11.5 percent year on year, data from an industrial association showed.
Total excavators sold in the domestic market rose 10.2 percent year on year to 14,870 in October, while exports stood at 2,157, according to the China Construction Machinery Association.
During the January-October period, total sales amounted to 196,222 units, up 14.4 percent year on year, said the association.
Some 174,680 excavators were sold in the domestic market, rising 12.1 percent year on year, while exports of the equipment surged 37.8 percent to 21,542 units in the first 10 months.
Sales of digging machines are an important indicator of the vitality of an economy as demand is usually backed by growth in mining and infrastructure development.
China sold a total of 203,420 excavators in 2018, surging 45 percent year on year.
