MILAN, Aug 30 (Class Editori) - Emilia Romagna wants to strengthen relations with Shandong and Guangdong. A bond based on research, tourism, technology transfer and all about knowledge. The President of the Region Stefano Bonaccini made this clear by receiving the new ambassador of China Li Junhua in Italy.
“We want to build a more solid institutional relationship with Shandong, a relationship with which the foundations were laid in November 2018 with the identification of joint work paths for the definition of a Memorandum of understanding that will allow defining new projects, strategic initiatives and investments to be shared on the themes of research, innovation, tourism, technology transfer and everything concerning the subject of knowledge,” explained Bonaccini, accompanied by the Councilor for School and Research Patrizio Bianchi.
The collaboration with Guangdong dates back to 2015, with the signing of a protocol by the governor Zu Xiadan. Since then, relationships have never stopped. The Chinese manufacturing hub and one of the richest regions in Italy have found common grounds on the issues of food safety and traceability and on phytosanitary export barriers. Emilia Romagna and Guangdong, along with California, Hesse, Nouvelle Aquitaine, Gauteng, Pennsylvania are signatories of the Joint Declaration signed on the occasion of the International Conference Regions for global sustainable development.
Another contact point with China is innovation. Councilor Bianchi recalled this: “Emilia Romagna has taken on a leading role in Europe on big data and artificial intelligence, with Bologna as the capital of supercomputing thanks to the great computers of the European Agency for weather forecasts and Leonardo, in addition to the role of coordination of large telescopes in the world recognized to the region.”
