MILAN, Jun 19 (Class Editori) -- The Italian research center of the rail giant China Railway Rolling Corporation will be established in Piedmont. The CRRC hub will be served by the high technology Blue Engineering. "What is happening is a dream come true. Relations with Chinese partners will be even stronger, we are paying back their trust every single day with our commitment and our results. Our company will be able to make further growth both in terms of employment and innovative and technological skills" explained managing director Mohamed Eid, one of the founders of Blue Engineering on the occasion of the official awarding of the new status to the company, in the presence of the CRRC vice-president Wang Jun, the mayor of Turin Chiara Appendino and the newly elected Piedmontese governor Alberto Cirio.
The group, founded in 1993, was a de facto research center in Europe for CRRC already in 2017. The railway giant acquired 65% of the company, while 10% went to the Cmc infrastructure group and another 5% to the Genertec, a Chinese technological company specialized in conveying Chinese investments in Italy.
In the past years, CRRC had submitted contracts to the Rivoli company. In 2013, it was Blue Engineering's job to allow Beijing's cargo trains to run faster on the tracks. The proposal dates back to 2016. "The founding partners had set themselves the goal of stay open and not to surrender to a crisis faced by the sector. To do this, we have taken the path of internationalization," explained the CEO a year ago, in conversation with MF-Milano Finanza.
The Chinese consortium's entry has already guaranteed the group orders for the next four years and an increase in staff from 112 to 180 employees, which could double to 2022. Blue Engineering has therefore found itself thrown into a system which, taking together the three Chinese groups, invoices 50 billion dollars and relies on 500,000 employees.
Among the first concrete results, the development of the electrically propelled "Trolleybus" and autonomous guide, born from the cooperation between CRRC and Blue Engineering, which will be implemented with the support of the Piedmont Region, thanks to European funds for research and innovation. It will also be tested in the streets of Turin thanks to the project of the City of Turin "Torino Smart Road".
