MILAN, Apr 9 (Class Editori) - Ferrovie dello Stato (FS) is taking forward its internationalization strategy aiming at the east. The group led by Gianfranco Battisti signed two agreements with its Hungarian and Indonesian counterparts, with the objective of exporting engineering and technical know-how abroad. The assignments of the subsidiary Italcertifer in Finland, Bulgaria and on the island of Taiwan are headed towards the same direction.

The memorandum signed with the Hungarian company Magyar Államvasutak aims to increase freight and passenger traffic between the two countries. Furthermore, along the same lines of the agreement with PT Kereta Api Indonesia, the intent is to develop innovative solutions for infrastructures and to renovate them, with particular attention to the commercial development of the stations, as well as to staff training.

"FS is constantly committed to strengthen its leadership in the rail transport sector in Europe and in the international market," said CEO Gianfranco Battisti. The group closed 2018 with a turnover of 12.1 billion (+30%), exceeding the 10 billion threshold for the first time, and achieving a 559 million profit (+1.3%).

"Participating in tenders organized in other countries allows FS to strengthen its presence abroad, earning esteem and notoriety through the skills and professionalism of its employees. For this reason we have entered into collaboration and partnership agreements with the most prestigious Italian universities to train highly qualified professionals and discover new talents that would generate value and innovation."

Italcerfer, the company headed by Carmine Zappacosta, was awarded the safety certification by the Sofia station and the Sofia-Volujak line, which is part of the Eastern-Mediterranean European TEN-T corridor. In Scandinavia, the FS certification company will instead carry out tests to verify the technical requirements of the diagnostic system purchased by the Finnish railways for infrastructure control.

Italcertifer is also aiming for the development on the Asian continent. In Taiwan, the company will supervise the critical safety tests and will ensure, through on-site inspections, that the safety requirements in the implementation of the Taipei Circular Line TLC systems are met. The new medium capacity elevated transport system will connect the Taipei Airport to Dapinglin Station and to the Songshan-Xindian metro line starting from June 2019.
