German exports rose to 117.2 billion euros (133.9 billion dollars) in October despite global trade tensions, the Federal Statistics Office announced on Monday.
The figure rose by 8.5 per cent on the same month in 2017, Destatis said, adding that imports had risen by 11.3 per cent to 98.9 billion euros over the same period.
Holger Bingmann, the head of Germany's BGA trade association, said that the October figure was also a significant improvement on September, describing it as an "extremely dynamic start to the fourth quarter."
In the first 10 months of the year, meanwhile, German exports rose by 4.1 per cent to 1,105.3 billion euros on the same period in 2017, while imports rose by 6.6 per cent to 912.8 billion euros.
