BEIJING, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- The men's final of the Kelme 2018 Asian University Sports Federation (AUSF) Football Cup was held in Jinjiang, Fujian Province of east China on November 10.
Thailand's Bangkok Thonburi University (BTU) won the championship.
Footballers spared no efforts on the competition field and actively participated in cultural exchanges outside the field, embodying the sports spirits of being higher, faster and stronger and also harvesting precious friendship, said Xue Yanqing, president of AUSF, at the awards ceremony held after the competition, adding that Jinjiang will surely hold a successful World Middle School Games in 2020 with abundant experience in holding such competitions.
More than 17,000 people attended the final and the awards ceremony. Besides, over 350,000 people watched the live event through the Internet.
The football competition shows the active cultural and sports exchanges of Jinjiang with other countries under the Belt and Road Initiative, said participants. (Edited by Gu Shanshan)
