BEIJING, June 1 (Xinhua) -- Southwest China-located Chongqing Municipality will embrace full coverage of expressways in all counties once the Chengkou-Kaizhou expressway is completed, reported Chongqing Daily.
Currently, the Chengkou-Kaizhou expressway, which is under construction, will be 128.5 kilometers long and is scheduled for completion in August 2023.
The project constructor revealed that six of the eight contracted sections of the Chengkou-Kaizhou expressway have started construction and they would strive to kick off construction of the remaining two sections by the end of the third quarter of this year.
Chengkou is the only county in Chongqing without expressways now but once the expressway is completed, Chongqing will also hail the first expressway link with northwest China’s Shaanxi Province.
After it is connected with the Ankang-Lan’ao expressway in Shaanxi, another channel linking up to the north of Chongqing will be in shape, fairly important for improving transportation conditions along the route and boosting development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, said the municipal committee of transport.
