BEIJING, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Fujian’s import and export with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) rose 16.1 percent year on year to 17.57 billion yuan in April, the 19th month of straight increases since October 2016, reported Fujian Daily citing Xiamen Customs.
In April, the southeast China-located coastal province reported export of 11.6 billion yuan to ASEAN, up 12.8 percent year on year and import of 5.97 billion yuan, up 22.9 percent year on year.
In the first four months, Fujian’s foreign trade with ASEAN surged 21.4 percent year on year to 69.66 billion yuan, including export of 40.38 billion yuan, up 10.4 percent year on year and import of 29.28 billion yuan, up 40.7 percent year on year.
Among all the ASEAN members, Indonesia, Philippine and Malaysia were the top three trade partners of Fujian Province and their total trade with Fujian accounted for 64 percent of the province’s gross trade with ASEAN during January and April.

As the report quoting experts from Xiamen Customs said, Fujian mainly exported traditional labor-intensive products, mechanical and electrical products and farm produce to ASEAN and imported mechanical and electrical products and resources from ASEAN.
