BEIJING, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Fujian’s export to BRICS countries maintained a double-digit growth for 14 months in a row by April, up 35 percent year on year to 3.62 billion yuan, Fujian Daily quoted Xiamen Customs District as saying.
Since the start of 2017, the southeast China-located coastal province has been actively expanding economic and trade cooperation with BRICS countries, resulting in rocketing mutual trade growth.
In April, Fujian’s export and import with BRICS nations grossed 8.21 billion yuan, up 24.8 percent over the same period of last year. Of the total, its import from BRICS countries rose to 4.59 billion yuan, up 17.9 percent year on year.

In terms of export products, Fujian mainly exported mechanical and electrical products and labor-intensive products to BRICS countries during January and April, which all together accounted for 73.3 percent of its export to BRICS nations.
In the first four months, the province’s export of mechanical and electrical products to BRICS market stepped up 42.2 percent year on year to 5.36 billion yuan and export of labor-intensive products including textile, clothes, furniture, cases and bags, shoes, plastic products, and toys, increased 32.1 percent year on year to 4.9 billion yuan.
