BEIJING, May 14 (Xinhua) -- As of the end of March, 279 enterprises located in Suzhou Industrial Park had invested 420 projects in more than 50 countries and regions, with a total investment of 9.5 billion U.S. dollars. And nearly half of them had invested in countries and regions along the Belt and Road.
Since the Belt and Road Initiative was proposed in 2013, Suzhou Industrial Park has provided all-round service for going global. In December 2015, the industrial park started to build the first national demonstration platform for outbound investment service, in order to gather all the information on overseas projects and share the information among governments, intermediaries and enterprises.
Meanwhile, enterprises in the industrial park have stepped up investing abroad. By the end of December 2017, 270 enterprises had invested 411 projects in 52 countries and regions, with a total investment of 9.37 billion U.S. dollars. In the first quarter of 2018, another nine enterprises had invested nine projects in the United States, Australia, Singapore and India, with a total investment of 0.18 billion U.S. dollars, recording an increase of 174.41 percent over the same period of last year.
These investments were mainly invested in Hong Kong, the United States and Cayman Islands, accounting for 21.65 percent, 18.73 percent and 14.84 percent of the park's total outbound investment.
Statistics show that outbound investment was mainly injected into 42 industries including business service, wholesale, research and experimental development, communications equipment, computer and other electronic equipment manufacturing and building decoration, accounting for 18.25 percent, 16.06 percent, nine percent, 8.52 percent and 7.54 percent of the total investment projects respectively.
123 enterprises had invested 147 projects in 22 countries and regions along the Belt and Road, with a total investment of 2.75 billion U.S. dollars and focusing on the industries of wholesale, business service, computer service, communication equipment, computer and other electronic equipment manufacturing and building decoration.
