BEIJING, May 7 (Xinhua) – Guangdong, a coastal province located in South China, is projected to post 26.2 trillion yuan in gross domestic product in 2035, according to a think-tank report.
The report, Guangdong 2035: Development Trends and Strategies Study, released by the Guangdong Academy of Social Sciences showed that Guangdong's GDP is expected to account for 12.4 percent of China’s total by 2035, and 2.08 percent of the world’s total.
According to the study, by 2035, Guangdong is predicted to surpass Britain to become the world’s sixth largest economy.
The think-tank also said that Guangdong's manufacturing industry will accelerate the pace of upgrading, with high-tech manufacturing accounting for 65.8 percent of the province’s industrial value added by 2035.
