BEIJING, Apr. 3(Xinhua) -- China imported 261.9 tonnes of rum from January to February, 2018, a decrease of 26.7 percent year on year, according to a monthly report jointly released by Xinhua Silk Road and China Chamber of Commerce of Foodstuffs and Native Produce (CFNA).
The value of China's rum imports amounted to 916,000 U.S. dollars during the period, a decrease of 14.9 percent on year, at an average price of 3,498.4 U.S. dollars per tonne, up 16 percent year on year.
In February alone, China imported 37.2 tonnes of rum, down 47.3 percent on year, with value standing at 153,000 U.S. dollars, down 56.7 percent year on year.
From January to February, 2018, among all the countries and regions that export rum to China, Puerto Rico ranked the first by 261,000 U.S. dollars in value of rum, down 47.1 percent year on year followed by France and the United States, with value of 126,000 U.S. dollars and 124,000 U.S. dollars, up 51 percent and 31.5 percent, year on year respectively.
In February, 2018, The United States ranked first with a value of 37,000 U.S. dollars, followed by Barbados and Spain with value of 26,000 U.S. dollars and 25,000 U.S. dollars, respectively. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
